Despite the common name, koalas are not bears, they are marsupials, animals that carry their young in a pouch. They live in Australia where it can be quite warm, so they hug trees to cool down. They are picky eaters, only snacking on eucalyptus leaves.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
